Distorted Lamp

When buying a Distorted Lamp, you are buying one from a category, not the specific lamp in the photo! The photos in each category are of past distorted lamps and are for reference only, giving you an idea of what your lamp will look like. The individual lamps are all unique and the surprise is part of the fun!

At Wooj, we’re always experimenting! Sometimes our experiments go awry, and we’re left with printed lamps that don’t meet the exacting standards we set for ourselves.

Over time, we’ve accumulated some of these lamps and haven’t known what exactly to do with them. But since we’re a smol studio (in Brooklyn, no less), we’re really pressed for space. This has left us with a slight conundrum.

In the spirit of experimentation, we’ve taken cues from the art of glassblowing, heating up the lampshades and returning them to a flexible and fluid state. This allows us to reshape them into unique forms which would otherwise be impossible to print or manufacture.

Each of these warped forms is completely unique. The process of forming them by hand allows us some freedom from the fixed nature of the manufacturing process we typically employ and allows us to impart more spontaneity into our Wavy Lamps.

Tip: If you’ve got a Wavy Lamp already - you can interchange your shades and bases! The Distorted Lamp shade will fit on your base or pendant fixture. Four lamps for the price of two :)

• You may indicate a preference for a certain style of Distorted Lamp (e.g. flowery, smushed, open, closed) in notes but we do not guarantee anything
• Distorted Lamps are final sale only
