This lamp is at its best when it is on. Does a decent job of replicating smoked glass when the bulb is on. However, for the majority of the time there are some downsides. Specifically, it definitely looks 3D printed with the glitch effect you get on the shroud in the daylight that looks nothing like smoked glass. Additionally, the weight way too light. If your location is near an open window, this thing will rock back and forth (the base isn't perfectly flat) and slide off the desk under a soft breeze. The components are also the cheapest available. The plastic light bulb doesn't fit straight into the socket and it will always be a little skewed if you look at it from the top down. But again, at night, with the windows closed, with the light on, and you don't stare directly at it... it creates a nice glow. But unfortunately that's not all the time and I'll go back to real glass for my next lamps. Especially at this price point.

I have the lamp on a corner tall cabinet in my dining room, where on dark days it makes a cozy atmosphere. During late dinners my guests comment on the lovely ambience from its’ gentle glow.

Picked one up for Mother’s day, she loves it!
