A new era for our favorite lamp.

CS.01 – Arcas makes use of 3D printing, custom-written code, and a careful eye on design to produce a unique and delightful object weaving together art and science.

The lamp mesmerizes with its unique ability to appear both solid and translucent; the bulb fades in and out of view depending on where you’re standing and give it a surreal charm. We’re so excited more people will now be able to enjoy the Arcas Lamp.

Collection Details

The Woven Collection

The Arcas Lamp is constructed using a custom-written 3D printing technique. This technique imbues the shade with the properties of woven textiles, capturing the fluid form of fabric in a solid state — suspending it in a way that seems to defy physical limitations.

The lamp's diaphanous nature allows it to integrate into any setting, providing not just illumination, but a captivating depth that transforms the Arcas lamp into a true artistic statement.

Beautiful Lampshade undercut by the abysmal product quality of the legs

I purchased this product as I absolutely love the lampshade and really liked how the minimalist look in the photos accentuated it in comparison to the gold version, especially at the price point. While the lampshade is absolutely beautiful, the base is very poorly built and has build quality that is unacceptably bad for a product that is $150. While I understand that this is a budget model and there is some concern about cost-cutting, it can't be this extreme. It's very clear that the vast majority of the production cost went into the lampshade, with next to none being on the base. You can tell in the photos that I have attached that the 3D printed pieces that are supposed to fit together do not fit together evenly, and the legs are not even as well.

I generally love purchasing things from small businesses and supporting craftsmen like yourself who deeply care about their work and the products that they make. It is very clear that the lampshade was treated with that level of quality, reverence, and care, and it is really sad to have such a beautiful product held back by shipping out what was very obviously an incomplete product.

For the designers, I would look into contracting out the work of actually producing the base model and no longer making it in-house because the 3D printed materials that it is made out of are difficult to assemble, structurally weak, and look cheap.

Hi Hunter,

Thank you for your thoughtful review and for sharing your experience.

We’re sorry to hear the base didn’t meet your expectations, and we’ve already sent a new base assembly your way, which should fit better. We’re also taking your feedback back to our team to see how we can improve the design and build going forward.

Best,
The Wooj Team

Tough to assemble

Beautiful but structurally unsound. Couldn’t get the legs to hold the main piece as it’s way too heavy to be supported by such thin plastic sticks. The legs didn’t click into place and kept collapsing. So frustrating and disappointing, now I use the lampshade without the legs.

Hi P - this shouldn't be the case. If you reach out to support we'll be happy to help make sure that you can get the base assembled properly. As a first step, please check out https://wooj.design/pages/cs-installation-guide if you haven't already, and this hopefully helps solve your issue. If not, we can definitely make things right if you reach out.

super wonky

I'm a bit disappointed with Arcas. It looked super cool in the product shots, but the assembly feels wobbly and unstable. I also had a very hard time assembling it since the pieces fit very loosely and don't secure, forcing you to hold several pieces together at once. I have some minor motor issues with my hands, and even I struggled, so I can't imagine what it must me like for someone who has even more motor issues.

Update: I will say that Wooj responded and revamped the assembly video for this, which is incredible. I still think that CS.01 Arcas is a cool looking lamp but the assembly is a little wobbly and wonky. However, the new instruction video is much much much more accessible with specific mentions of the names of pieces, so I'm updating my review to reflect that!

On top of that, the assembly instructions are not even CLOSE to being accessible. They assume you have the ability to watch a video and assemble based on sight alone. The narrator never calls any piece by name, only ever saying "this piece" or "like this" instead of saying "the legs" or "the retaining ring" or "until secure". This creates a problem for visually impaired folks, since they can't use an accessibility tool (a screen reader could read out written instructions, for instance), and they can't rely on the description alone. Hearing impaired folks might also have a hard time, since any generated captions wouldn't be very descriptive based on the narrators lack of detail.

I would really like to see some improved accessibility in both the product itself and the associated instructions.

Hi Keelan,

Thanks so much for sharing your experience and for the detailed feedback.

We have already reached out directly to offer further support, and we’re currently working on clearer, more accessible assembly guides, which will be live within the next two weeks if not sooner.

We are grateful you took the time to share it!

Love the CS.01 Arcas so much. It’s beautiful on my bedroom dresser. I assembled it carefully because it seems a bit delicate but I think it’s pretty durable for what it is. Only thing is that I wish I could use a dimmable smart bulb like a Phillips Hue. I plugged it into a Phillips smart outlet for now.
